This chapter offers guidelines for creating influence diagrams that are clear and comprehensible by careful arrangement of nodes, well-designed module hierarchies, and judicious use of color. Hierarchical influence diagrams can provide a lucid display of the essential qualitative structure of a model, uncluttered by quantitative details.
