Cause

When loading a model file, or parsing a definition, an invalid character was encountered.

This error may occur if you attempt to open a non-Analytica file with Analytica. The example message shown here was encountered when File → Open was used and an Acrobat PDF file was selected (which is not a format recognized for an Analytica model file).

Remedy

Provide a correct Analytica model file -- a file that uses valid Analytica syntax and that is named with a .ana extension.
