When you position your mouse over a node and wait for a half a second, ''hover icons'' appear around the node. These icons are shortcuts to common operations and can often save you an extra mouse click, having to move the mouse to the toolbar, or from a double-click (which takes a certain amount of finger coordination). Icons that are not available from the current context don't appear.

Pop-up node controls appear around a node, when you move the mouse cursor over a node and wait half a second, or when you click a node. Click on a pop-up control to open the Object Window, Result window, or Expression view for this Variable, or to open the Diagram for a Module node. These controls save you having to move the mouse up to the toolbar at the top of your screen. They only appear when they are relevant in the current context, so, different node types have different sets of pop-up icons.
