Talk:Decision tree library
Suggested improvements by Max In Docs,
- show an example influence diagram, e.g. the Part problem, near the top so a prospectiver users has an idea of what they can do. Make it as small as possible when text is still legible, e.g. node titles ~10 pt.
- Move the party problem example download to near the top, just under the diagram/tree.
- Move the Label options to after the Label buttons, since the options are less important/more detailed and complex than the Label buttons. Presumably most users won't need to open the Options module.
General
- It would be nice to highlight the preferred decisions (highest EV) e.g. by thickening the arrows along a preferred paths, or changing the node border to dark from light grey, or by filling in the node with gray, light or dark. (Aver you click "Evaluate tree".
- Instead of including the Instructions in the library (where they add quite a bit to the file size), why not simply have a link to the docs page -- assuming they have the same content. That also means you won't have to update them in both places in the future.
Button group top right:
- Realign labels checkbox doesn't appear to do anything. I expected that labels would move if I move their parent node. At least the description should explain when they get realigned. Preferably it should be a button that realigns the labels immediately.

- "Remove labels" should be better labeled "Hide labels"
- There should be a corresponding "Show" Labels button. Ideally it should appear over "Hide labels" after hiding labels, and vice versa.
- I finally figured out that "Show input fields" refers to the small edit tables. Maybe call them "Input tables".
- As I suggested before, it would be clearer and simpler to have the probability: x% field be an input field so you don't need an edit table (or do you need it in more complex cases?). It is redundant to show the value above and enter it into an edit table in a different place.
- Similarly, better have Rev and costs be input fields.
- The font options appear to be all san serif. I like san serif, but those who like serif should have options.
- Description of "Display options" needs to say what Above, Below, Right etc are relative to (the node).
- "Label orientation" sounds like it would show the text vertically or horizontally. Maybe "Label arrangement" would be clearer.
