Beta Tester Page
We invite you to be a beta tester of Analytica 5.1, if:
- You have Analytica 5.0 installed on your computer with an active subscription. (Sorry, not Analytica Free 101). It also works for floating licenses with a license manager.
- Your computer has an internet connection without a firewall or proxy server that prevents the installer or the update checker (AnalyticaUpdateChecker.exe) from communicating with the AnalyticaOnline.com server.
Why become a beta tester?
- Test drive the upcoming release 5.1 and start using its new features immediately.
- Participate in webinars on tips and guides on new features.
- Help improve the final release.
- Ensure that your models work in the new release. Find any issues while they can still be fixed, ensuring a seamless transition for you and your model users when this release becomes official.
Your responsibilities as a beta tester
- Read What's new in Analytica 5.1? for an overview of the new features.
- Sign up as a beta tester by filling in the form when you run the installer.
- Try out the new Analytica enhancements of interest to you.
- Submit a bug report if you find an issue
- Keep up-to-date with the latest beta build. Analytica will show you an alert whenever there is a new build ready to install, about every 2 weeks. We may also send you email reminders. See release notes for changes and bug fixes in each beta release.
- We encourage you to retain Analytica 5.0 when you install Analytica 5.1 beta. That lets you compare their behavior if you suspect a new bug.
How to start beta-testing
Download the installer for the latest beta build, release number 5.1.2, from:
If you have a current 5.0 subscription and accessible internet connection, the installer normally obtains the required license automatically. If not, send us an email with the details: support@lumina.com.
If you use a centrally-managed license for Analytica (e.g., a floating license), the installer should still be able to obtain a beta license automatically. If you want to install a 5.1 beta license on the RLM server for easy use by anyone in your organization, please contact us via support@lumina.com.
Improve docs on the Analytica wiki
During beta period, we are still updating this Analytica Wiki to reflect new features. What's new in Analytica 5.1? is the most complete listing of new features, and is also a work in progress. As we approach final release date, this information will be more complete.
As an Analytica user, you are invited to contribute to the docs! Since it's on a wiki (using Mediawiki software, just like Wikipedia), you can add or edit any content. If you find something unclear, incomplete, or just wrong, feel free to fix it yourself. Or add comments, asking someone else to. And you are welcome to add tips or interesting examples.
Known issues
If you find an issue, please let us know about it at support@lumina.com. Please see Submitting a bug report for instructions on reporting bugs.
Note: We list only the most important issues here (ones that might impact your ability to use it, or which are likely to be found and reported multiple times). We maintain a comprehensive bug base in-house, which is not accessible outside of Lumina.
Problems acquiring a beta license
Usually the installer obtains a beta 5.1 license automatically. Occasionally, it may fail to do so, perhaps because your computer does not have an internet connection is or you have a firewall that blocks IP port 80. In that case, you will see something like this on the third page of the installer titled Analytica Automatic Beta Licensing:
If you see this, please report it to support@lumina.com, preferably with a screenshot of the installer page. To fix it, you'll need to reconfigure your firewall to allow communication on port 80 between the AnalyticaUpdateChecker.exe program (installed on your computer when you install Analytica) and the AnalyticaOnline.com server.
If the Installer skips this page and goes directly to the License Information page, it means that it did not find any already installed valid 5.0 license on your computer. This could happen if you don't already have Analytica 5.0 (Professional, Enterprise or Optimizer) installed on your computer with an active subscription or support -- which you must have to be a beta tester for Analytica 5.1. If you actually do have Analytica 5.0 installed and working, it suggests an installer bug. In that case, please report the problem to support@lumina.com. Please include info about your 5.0 license to help us debug it.
