These functions can be applied to complex numbers.
For scalar functions, if you pass a real number as a parameter and the result would be complex, a complex number will only be returned if you have EnableComplexNumbers set to 1. Otherwise, a warning will be issued and NaN is returned. See Enabling Complex Numbers.
